Caldari Navy Legion

The year is YC 112 when the Amarrian Empire discovers an unstable wormhole leading into the unknown. Despite overwhelming forces of Sleeper Drones, scientists manage to reverse-engineer the new technology. The other 3 nations follow quickly, each constructing their own new Cruisers.

Nowadays, Wormholes are among the common knowledge of Capsuleers across New Eden.
But what should have been the new Amarrian superweapon, turned into the biggest fail scrap heap we now called the Legion-Statistic Cruiser.

Untill someone of a Caldarian bloodline came along.

What do you do when you got a rack of lowslots? You nano that shit! Rather light on defense: Its few Shield expanders are topping no more hitpoints than an average shield-based Hurricane. But the Legion has got what other Cruisers and Battlecruisers have not: speed and range optimization. A simple Tracking Enchancer will boost the Scorch range up to 40km, while a set of Snakes Implants will ramp the top speed up to 3850 meters per second.

Perhaps some footage in one of my next EVE videos.

Lotta lemons

"When life hands you lemons... you ignore the FC's terribad decisions and do your own thing."

Last weekend was fun, in its own little way. The evening started out nice with about 15+ Wartargets plexing in Nennamaila looking for a fight.
Dark-Rising corp activity was rather low at the time, but Militia was high sure enough.
Now, unfortunately I missed the grand opening of our random elite blue FC, but when I hopped on TS he was calling for people to ship up in, get this, Sniper Battleships with Guardians. A couple of moments later we were in the wildest mixed bag of ships, mostly *Shield Battlecruisers*, with a handful of Guardians. Epicness was occurring.

I got myself in a Lachesis, Kubiq in an Arazu, and Mr Digs was either brave or too folly enough to board a Guardian. A couple of other Dark-Rising members joined the blue fleet too. Fleet got to 30+ when we warped our terribad blob into the Squids when shit got real... Our primary FC had no idea what he was doing. Our secondary target-caller mic was broken. And I doubt not half of us were in a ship that was supposed to do what we were doing. Eventually, Mr Digs (still flying the Guardian) took over the FC role, and we won that little fight. Props to him.

When we all arrived back at the station, we figured out this wasn't the way to do it. Surely we can do crazier. So we (Mr Digs, Kubiq and me) dropped down to our own private Comms, and left the blue Militia fleet, and fired up our own little gang. So now we were on separated Teamspeak and fleets, flying semi-parallel with the blue blob. From this point on wards we had no clue what the blues were saying or doing.
We were still sitting on the Nennamaila Station together with the blues, when a new WT fleet arrived  almost 100 KM off from us. We fired up our Loki links and our Gallente Recons suddenly got disruptors going as far as 103 KM. Fun fun.
We figured this was a chance to catch some kills so we tackled some Battlecruisers from 100KM away with our Recons. Blues noticed quick enough and followed our lead, which resulted in a few kills.

Caldari Militia wasn't done for tonight just yet. A bit later they were held up inside another Plex. We were still in our 3-man gang on our own comms, and blues were still in their own fleet. We reshipped for Frigates and warped to the Plex gate. Some blues were on the gate as well, awaiting orders whether to go in or not. Minutes passed. Blues were very much aware of us being there too, and I think they were just waiting for us to take the lead again. And sure we did. The next 30 minutes we spend nano'ing inside the Plex catching targets whenever we could, for the blues to lay damage on.
We did lose our Frigates, but we quickly reshipped and the next minute we were back in again. At the end of the event we got 25+ kills. I sure had a lot of fun flying around.
So next time you see a lemon flying by (be it in the shape of a Drake or not), just take it. With or without your terrible FC's approval.

New Video

As mentioned, I made a new video. Enjoy.
Mostly just ganks and easy kills, as well as a few nice gang fights. But in the end it was all fun.

Escalations

"Typhoon on scan."
"Looks like high-sec gate."
"Yep, he's at zero."
(...)
"Warped. To Caldari Facility-complex. Adamus, get a point, I'm warping to gate."
"Point!"

When you see a lone Typhoon-battleship flying around lowsec, it means one of two things. It's either going to be fail fit killboard trolling. Or things escalate really quickly.
The later one happened this time.

AdamusMaximus is flying a Stabber-Cruiser Fleet Issue. A very diverse ship, quick, agile, and good at keeping other ships locked down. As soon as the 'point'  was called out, I jumped through in a Talos-Battlecruiser, while Karashur joined in an Enyo-Assault Frigate.

I was aware of the presence of another Alliance in local, holding on a close-by POS. It was a gamble whether or not they would interfere with our vigorous little flight. Naturally, I wouldn't be writing this blog about it if they didn't.

When I landed, 3 Cynabal-Angel Cartel Cruisers were on grid as well. Extremely fast Cruisers, with the ability to kick out some decent damage. Though the 'Phoon was still tackled, we had to switch priority. I managed to bait one of the Cynabals away from the fight, where he came face to face with my Neutron Blaster Cannons. Shortly after he died, the other 2 Cynabals left the field too. But meanwhile, we still had a tackled Battleship to kill.

Just before the Typhoon dies, my scanner starts picking up more Battlecruisers. Surely, this fight was not over yet. A Cyclone and Drake exit warp, followed by a Hurricane. Even though we had a friendly Thrasher-Destroyer joining in, it seemed as if they started to out-gun us. All 3 Battlecruisers were now fully engaged, and we took an Assault Frigate loss for it.
Alarms go ringing, as I hit the 60% armour mark. An unwelcome note, as my Talos is shield fitted. The Cyclone goes down when I managed to warp to safety, knowing at least 2 hostile Battlecruisers were still on the field. I returned, finished off the remaining 2 Battlecruisers, as well as another Thrasher.

Hostiles were regrouping, and 2 more Drakes load the field, together with another Cynabal. With all our ships badly damaged, guns and modules burned out, we decide to take leave. Knowing we sank 6 vessels, together worth more than 600M ISK, at the loss of a single Assault Frigate, I think that is a fight well fought.

All this got Fraps'd, and will be edited into a video I'm currently making.

Just another day at the office

Nennamaila has been good to me the last couple of days.

But you can't have fun all the time. Or can you..? I was spinning ships at my hanger, while going through my daily shemale pr0n material, when Kubiq noted a Cyclone-Battlecruiser in his Major Complex in Enaluri, next door.

TO BATTLESTATIONS !!!

When I got there, another WT Navy Slicer-Faction Frigate just joined in the fun as well. A worthy 2v2! Right? Well, we disposed of the Cyclone quickly, as the Navy Slicer ran away (he later came back to face his doom regardless). At this time a Ferox-Battlecruiser and a Condor-Frigate enter the grid.
D-Scan hinted that our little 2 v 2 was escalating nicely, as things started popping up. Exactly what we wanted!

As we were flying a Talos and a Curse, our primary defense was range and speed. The concept of this kind of plexing PvP is to burn out of warp-in range, spread the enemies out, and pick them off one by one, while their buddies can do nothing but watch from a fair far distance.

Needless to say the Ferox and Condor were no match for us. At this time local spiked up to 25 capsuleers. The blob consided out of everything going from Frigate to Battlecruiser, including a Legion-Tech 3 Strategic Cruiser. But by the time they arrived we killed another Stabber and the previous Navy Slicer.

Finally, overview started filling up and shit is going down. 20 angry red-boxing pilots burning to us. Even though I can easily out run any turret-based Ship, missile kept hitting me from far, and the fact Target-Painters were lighting up my Signature Radius didn't help either. Time to warp out.

Kubiq and his trusty Curse-Recon Ship got over 250km from the warp-in sitting rather comfortable, picking off a nano based Osprey Navy Issue-Faction Cruiser, while keeping the blob at range.

I got information the warp-in was clear, I so returned back to the Complex, only to find a lone Harbinger-Battlecruiser sitting 10km from me, while the rest of the blob is still  burning towards Kubiq, hence way out of range to defend the Harbinger. Yet another kill for me!

Their FC, either died or lost hope, decided to drop the fleet out of the plex, leaving us to loot 7 wrecks.
Todays lesson: Proper piloting beats blobs. 25 v 2, and all they got is insurance payouts :-)

The rest of the day I spend killing other random stuff, including 2 solo kills on a Hurricane and  Stabber Fleet Issue. Was good fun.

Fly safe,
Judas

On the road ahead

Not posted in a bit, so I'm just gonna do a short update tonight.

Dark-Rising moved out of Nisuwa. Dark has been in Nisuwa for a few good months, but the neighborhood  has changed. Or, our neighbors have changed, to be more exact. Another major Gallante FW Alliance we shared the system with has been screwing up the place, resulting in conflicts.

All fine, we'll find another place to hang out. And our glorious leader has picked out Nennamaila! Which I think is a fantastic location. For several reasons.
One: It is 2 jumps from Ichoriya, a Caldari highsec hub
Two: It is still only a few jumps from the core of Black Rise
Three: It is 4 jumps from 0.0 Cloud Ring-region
Four: It is next door to Enaluri, the system where I started my grand lowsec PvP pirate adventure two years ago. So I (think I) really know my way around the place.

I started moving some assets down last week, and I'm already having a good time. Killed a handful of Battlecruisers, as well as Gila-Guristas faction Cruiser. All in all I'm having a good time.
We had a funny little stand-off with some BC gang. There was a blue BC gang on the gate, and another neutral BC gang in the system next door. I think both parties were waiting for each other to make a move ... But fuck it, Kubiq and me jumped ahead and warped our Machariels right into that neutral gang. We screwed up a little, most ran, but we got one kill :-) But t'was fun. Totally ninjad that gang before the blues jumped in, haha.

So unlike last time, when I didn't had a proper screenshot - this time I do. I left my capsule's warm goo, jumped in my 'Esquire' Coat and went to my Captain's Quarters. Here is where I hang out with my bitches and my booze. Life is good. Especially through the glass of a Monocle. The One Eyed Buccaneer is living the dream!

Don't mind the midgets there on the couch.

MOAR MOA's

Greetings,

So tonight I FC'd a fleet. One that had more than 3 people in it, for a change.
Back in my previous alliance, 7th Space Cavalry - Freemason Core, we used to do this fun fleet we called Moa Frenzy. As you would guess, we'd all fly Moa's. Moa's are terrible ships, not to speak of its looks. That's why it was so fun flying them in a pack, as nobody expects a Moa gang. We did this a couple of times and it was always very enjoyable.

I wanted to bring that concept to Dark-Rising.
We managed to round up about 10 Moa's. Enough to run a gang with. So off we went. Fleet started out nice n easy, killing a t1 frigate and a Caracal in and around Nisuwa.
Taking off, we warped the fleet into a FW plex to hunt a Vexor, only to find a Stabber Fleet Issue, Rupture, Condor and Griffin landing on top of us as we arrived. The frigies ran, but we swiftly dealt with the SFI and Rupture. Not a bad way to start a fleet. KB Link

We moved on, taking a different route than usual, to Ishomilken. Ishomilken is a Wartarget HQ, as well as a local Pirate base, so my hope was getting some kills there. On the way we found a Rupture 60km off the gate. The Rupture got tackled when a Pilgrim-recon uncloaked; both turned into dust. KB Link

For a last attempted on a kill, I found a Hurricane on a safespot in Ishomilken. Unfortunately, he was aligned, so when I fleet-warped on top of him, he managed to get out.

Now, I forgot to make an actual screenshot. I wanted to, but I just completely forgot about it. So I did some fine Photoshopping, here is a screenie of how our fleet could have hypothetically looked like:

Pretty damn awesome, I'd say. Won't you? Thought so.

Well I might turn this fleet into a re-occurring event, if not Moa's then maybe some other type of shitty t1 cruiser. Scythe gang, anyone?

Balls to the wall

[Please put on this track to set the mood http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhsTmiK7Q2M]

Hello!

So last night Kubiq found an Armageddon shooting an offline Tower in Rakapas. Aware of the fact local was holding about 15 WTs in this station system, we figured we'd get in there, ninja it for a quick kill and carry on. This is what rolled out of that 'quick kill'
Kubiq and I were in Shield nano Talos' and Peg joined us into an armor Hurricane.

Killboard
http://dark-rising.co.uk/Dark/killboard/?a=kill_related&kll_id=184320

We indeed found the Geddon on the POS, with a Thorax. The Thorax pilot found himself in a pod about 9 seconds later, but the Geddon had a much hard tank. I screwed up my transversal speed, and he got me into 30% armor with some well-placed hits. I warp out, while the other guys kept point on the Battleship.

When I got back, a Stabber Fleet Issue plus support were on the grid. Meanwhile, a local Carrier had remotely sent its Fighters towards us, and Pegaus bit the dust ... He returned to Nisuwa swiftly, reshipped, and came back in a Huginn shortly after.
Meanwhile, WT's weren't gonna give up. A costly mistake; as they should have ... They just kept warping in one by one, or 2 at most, and they just kept dying to us. Once we had the 2 Talos on grid again, the Carrier Fighters were not much of a threat anymore; after we killed a handful, he stopped sending Fighters.
We were joking with each other saying it felt like doing a Mission with new spawns warping in :-)

At the end the Wartargets started forming a long-range sniper ships at the Station, but they never warped it in. We left local soon after.

I think this is an excellent example how bigger numbers isn't necessarily a better tactic.
Granted, we were using a Linking boosting Loki with us. A powerful tool that gives our ships more than 30% extra speed, and 50% extra tackle range.

In general, I had a fantastic PvP evening. This is really the kind of PvP I enjoy. Take the meta-gaming to a higher level, fight against all odds, and walk away with a handful of killmails. We used to do this kind of stuff (2v8's and alike) in my previous corp, and I'm glad we got to do it again.

A Darkness is Rising

Good day.
Short introduction: I created this blog a couple of months ago, for the laughs, not knowing if I'd ever use it or not. Seems I did not.

(...)
Till today! So, here we go. Who am I, and what am I doing?
I have been a proud member of 7th Space Cavalry since 2008. 7thSC is an EVE Online corp, formed in the early days of 2003. Starting out as an industrial corp, it has since evolved into an all-round PvP corporation. It has said to have seen all corners of New Eden, from Highsec, to Nullsec, to more recent Wormhole-space.

Through my time in 7thSC, I've been both Director and eventually CEO. And during most of this time I've been a Lowsec PvPer. Having a -10.0 secstatus for years now, one could go as far as calling me a pirate!

A good two months ago I left my jolly good old corp, 7th Space Cavalry, to join Dark-Rising.
Dark-Rising is a corp formed by Mitch Taylor in 2006, and has since seen a good share of the universe. I first came in contact with Dark in 2010 when it was based in Nullsec space, under the IT-Alliance banner.
Currently Dark-Rising is an active Faction Warfare PvP corp based out in the Black Rise region. A region I have firm memories and knowledge of, having lived there for years!

Recently, Dark-Rising is going through some management changes, and has called its members for volunteers to join a Director Trial. Hesitating at first, I stepped up. FOR THE MOTHERLAND!!
So since last night I bear the proud title of Trial Director! This will last a few months, and I'm very curious to see how it will pan out for me.

Back to blogging ...
If one were to ask about my PvP 'specializations', I would say Lowsec Skirmish PvP, and Black-Ops PvP. This blog will most likely go about these subjects, along with my recent developments within Dark-Rising.
Hope you like and enjoy!
